SATURDAY ADVANCED/ADVENTURE SAILING is offered every Saturday 10:00 AM to 2:00PM during the school year, weather and staffing permitting, excluding holidays. The sailing starts mid September and runs through the middle of May. The program is for local youth age 10 to 17 who have complete one of our Summer Sailing Camps. Intermediate and/or advanced sailors who have completed training at any US Sailing certified sailing school are also eligible to join our program. The cost of the program is $35 per Saturday. The initial $35 fee includes a one year "membership" in CHYS. The Registration & Membership forms for the year must be completed by the sailor and parent or guardian.  Scholarships are available for young sailors referred to CHYS by Children's Network of Southwest Florida, the Guardian ad Litem program and/or Florida South Western Collegiate High School counselors. The focus of the Saturday program is to have fun on the water while refining sailing skills through standard sailing drills, gaining knowledge of the Racing Rules of Sailing and participating in mini-regattas. A "fun sail" is organized by the students once a month. This usually involves a sail across the river to one of the ice cream shops in Punta Gorda.
